Paul Joseph Schaffer, 88, died June 11, 2015 in Bellevue, Ohio. He was at home and
surrounded by his wife and sons at the time of his death.

Paul was born July 21, 1926 to Carl and Martha Phieffer Schaffer in Monroeville, Ohio, and married
Dorothy Miller at St. Sebastian's Catholic Church on October 9, 1954. Together, they raised their four sons in Bellevue.

Paul proudly served four years in the United States Air Force, predominantly in Japan, and was employed by the former General Motors New Departure Hyatt in Sandusky, Ohio, for 30 years. He retired in 1983. He was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Parish, living his life in faithful service of God and neighbor, and always keeping an eternal perspective. He was a founding member of Bellevue's St. Vincent de Paul Society, where he held positions as President and Treasurer, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Boy Scouts of America. He was an avid follower of many sports and especially enjoyed cheering for his sons and grandchildren in their extracurricular activities. He was an outstanding card player and enjoyed playing with his friends and family. He
enjoyed gardening, fishing, golf and bowling. Paul was generous in love and spirit and a supportive friend to many. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy, and his four sons and their spouses: John and Tricia (Beverly Hills MI.), Steve and Kim (Silverdale,
WA.), Greg and Pat (Whitehouse, OH.), and Jeff and Susan (Sylvania, OH.), his fifteen grandchildren: Brian (Catherine), Matthew, David, Rose, Lily, Drew, Kelly, Paul, Kevin, Ryan, Michael, Kyle, Casey, Justin, and Matthew and his great grandchildren: James and Charlie.

He is also survived by his brothers: Carl (Joanne) and Vincent (Mary Ann), and sisters: Mary Hettle, Dolores Miller, Millie Miller, Rosemary Schaffer, and Carolyn Mench (Eldon), sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Wilma Miller Bednarz, Bernie Miller Daniel, Harriet Miller
Hahler (Howard), Norma Miller Young (Eldon), Harold Miller (Barbara), and Deanna Miller, and many nieces and nephews.
