Melville J. "Mel" Winkler, 79, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015, in Twilight Gardens Home.
He was born November 11, 1935 in Huron, Ohio, to the late John A. and Martha (Sholes) Winkler, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. Mel had worked for Box Board Packaging retiring in 2001, and was a former employee of Kerr Printing Company. He was the former manager of the Sohio Station in Avery, and had worked at the Sandusky Box Shop. He enjoyed painting in oil and water colors, playing yard games with his kids, and was an avid Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians fan.
He is survived by his wife, of 49 years, Patricia C. (Greer) Winkler, of Norwalk, Ohio, by his son, Dan Winkler, of Norwalk, Ohio, twin daughters, Deb (John) Magness, of Forest Hill, Maryland, and Denise Clark, of Norwalk, Ohio, by 4 grandchildren, and by his sisters, Betty Cox, Lois Mann, Ruth Esker and Mary Winkler.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Alex, Harry, Dick, Bob, Louis, John, and James.
Friends may call on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until time of services at 4:00 p.m in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St. Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Bob Hudberg will officiate. Inurnment will be in Milan Cemetery.
