Roy E. Giles, age 87, of Norwalk, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Providence Care Center in Sandusky.
He was born August 29, 1927 in Bellevue, Ohio to the late Roy E. Giles Sr and Elsie F. (Ruffing) Giles.
He attended St. Paul Catholic School and worked at his parents business, Giles Floor Covering, as a carpet installer. At 18 years old he joined the US Navy and served during WWII. After returning from the Navy he went back to work for his parents until they retired and sold the business to him. He owned and operated the business until he also retired. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening and fishing. He was most proud of serving his country in WWII and being a Veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Jean (Walters)(Andres) Giles of Norwalk; daughters, Susan Holscher of Arkansas and Sharon (Phil) Ralston of Norwalk; step-children, James (Laura) Dickman, Gloria Dendinger, Annette Tripp, Mary (Mike) Walsh, Richard (Gloria) Andres, Charles (Kendra) Andres and Laura (Larry) Marten; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Cline of Huron, Rosemary Driscoll of California, Elizabeth Hickey of Sheffield Lake and Mary Ann Holliwick of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James E. Giles; and brother, William H. Giles.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Meadow Green Memorial Park, 2602 Bogart Road, Huron, OH.
