John E. Hunter, 72, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.
John was born on July 14, 1942 in Norwalk, OH to the late Earl Hunter and Mable (Buddenhagen) Groves.
John was a 1960 graduate from Sandusky High School. He was a Perkins Police Officer for over 5 years, and had worked at several local car dealerships before becoming owner and operator of Lou's Auto Sales for over 10 years before retiring in 2010. John was a past member of many local clubs and organizations. In his spare time, he enjoyed doing yard work, especially taking care of his rose bushes, and spending time with his family and friends.
John is survived by his wife, Linda (Ewers) Hunter, whom he married on July 15, 1993. He is also survived by his daughter, Jodi (Scott) Johns; sons, Jeff (Tonya) Hunter and Michael Kirk; grandchildren, Brittany, Maci, Kory, Katie and Leah; sister, Sharon Scroggy and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce (Elgart) Hunter in 1991.
Friends may call on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky.
