David Lloyd Kniffin, 67, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 in his home.
He was born January 16, 1948 in Bedford, Ohio to the late Robert F. and Mary Jane Daugherty Kniffin.
David attended Bedford and Orange High Schools, and was a Bowling Green State University Alumni. He was in insurance and financial planning services, and earned his credentials as CLU, CHFC, MSFS, and LUTCF fellow. He felt that his profession was not work but truly a way to serve people. He was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Norwalk Lions Club for over 35 years, men's Christian small groups, and reading group.
David was the face of the Huron County Republican Party for nearly a quarter of a century as the county chairman, and a long standing member of the board of elections. He was also a trustee of the Association of the Election Officials. David loved his country, and what it stands for: freedom, God, and truth. He loved history, had a great love of the arts, dance in particular.
David also was the behind the scenes expert of lighting, scene construction, and endless other details of the performances at the Cynthia Kniffin Dance Academy. He was a "grandfather" figure to all dancers who came throughout the years. He loved yard work, making big deluxe breakfasts, and was an avid reader.
There was nothing more important to David than his family, no request was too big, including many donut runs, and never too many hugs. We know no other man who so loved and revered his parents before him, his wife, children, and grandchildren, after him.
He is survived by his beloved soul mate, Cynthia Anne (Maxwell) Kniffin, whom he married 44 years ago, on May 29, 1971, by his children, Amy U. (Dale) Bond, and Elizabeth B. (Brett) Schurman, by his grandchildren, Hannah Bond, Rachel Bond, and Toni (Jeff) Hipp, Jacob, Alec, and Nicholas Schurman, by his great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Kaitlyn Hogenbirk, by his brother, Brian F. (Betsy) Kniffin, and by his sister, Cathleen L. (David) Ford.
