John Edward Pribanic, 82, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, July 14, 2015 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
John was born on July 12, 1933 in McKeesport, PA to the late John and Anna (Pozega) Pribanic.
John was a Veteran of the US Air Force who proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was an air traffic controller for over 15 years at the Cleveland Hopkins and the Alleghany Airport. John was mayor of McKeesport Pennsylvania and retired as a business owner of Trader Jacks. John was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sandusky and Sacred Heart in White Oak, PA. He was also a member of the Elks, Eagles, AMVETS, American Legion, VFW and the Croatian Club in Lorain. John encompassed a plethora of knowledge; he enjoyed reading, and had an extensive library. In his spare time, he enjoyed entertaining family and friends, traveling and spending time with his family..
John is survived by his daughter, Meredith Pribanic; sons, Victor, Michael (Virginia), Jonathon, David (Peggy), Jeffrey, Adam (Jennifer), Christopher, Sean (Christine), Daniel (Megan) and Ernest (Leslie) Pribanic; 19 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his grandson, Eli Michael Pribanic, and his brother, Carl Pribanic.
Friends may call on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015 at St. Angela's Merici Catholic Church, 1640 Fawcett Ave., White Oak, PA 15131. Burial will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery, White Oak, PA.
