Alfred (Joe) Weisenberger

Alfred (Joe) Weisenberger, 86, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away July 13, 2014 at Vista Care Center of Milan surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 28, 1928 to the late August and Iva (Rounds) Weisenberger.

Joe attended a one room school house in West Harland, later moving that school to his farm. He graduated from Norwalk High School in 1946. Joe was a lifelong farmer, spending most of his years as a dairy farmer. He had an avid interest in aviation, obtaining his pilot's license at the age of 16. Joe owned his own airplane and had his own landing strip at his farm. He especially enjoyed flying in the evening after milking cows to check his crops. He was known as the Flying Farmer. He enjoyed going to air shows. His other interests included collecting arrow heads and Hit & Miss engines. Joe belonged to several organizations including Farm Bureau- life time member, AOPA - Aircraft Owners Pilots Association, HartPar-his small engine/Hit &Miss Organization. In his retirement he enjoyed spending his winters in Florida, playing golf and fishing. He was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Theresa Potts Weisenberger, his children, Linda (Duncan) Wooster of Burton, Michigan, Jim and Debbie Weisenberger of Norwalk, Ohio, Mike and Sandi Weisenberger of Norwalk, Ohio, Pat Back of North Fairfield, Ohio, Tim and Peggy Weisenberger of Norwalk, Ohio, Mary (Brian) Ames of North Fairfield, Ohio, and Annette (Dan) Scheid of Norwalk, Ohio: 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents August and Iva (Rounds) Weisenberger; brother, Charles Weisenberger; sisters Mary Alice Hartung, Jane Wagner, Mabel Fazio, and Charlotte Kromer.

The family would like to thank Stein Hospice and Vista Care Center in Milan for the special care given to their loved one.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main St., Norwalk, Ohio. Msgr. Ken Morman will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
