Gladys (Palm) Petry, age 74, of Greenwich, Ohio, formerly Green Springs, Ohio and Washington, DC, died on Wednesday, July 15 at the Bellevue Care Center.
Gladys was born on December 1, 1940, in Adrian, Michigan, to the late Leroy Palm and Joyce (Teague) Palm.
She moved to Olena, Ohio in 1952 and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1958. After graduation, she moved to Washington, DC, where she married and enjoyed a number of years first as a homemaker and devoted mother and later as a sales clerk before moving to Green Springs, Ohio and later Greenwich, Ohio. In her later years she enjoyed life at the Bellevue Care Center, serving as the president of the Residents' Council there since August 2014.
Gladys is survived by her daughter Bonnie Petry of Alexandria, Virginia; her brother David Miller; her brother Walter Florek; sister-in-law Caroline Miller; sister-in-law Cookie Miller; cousin Ray Myers; niece Kim Perkins; nephew Kevin Miller; and her beloved cats Rusty, Suzie, and Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her sister Bonnie Cusumano and nephew Kenny Miller.
Gladys will be remembered fondly by the numerous people and cats who found themselves in need of kindness and a strong advocate.
She will be interred in Pleasant Union Cemetery in Old Fort, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to God's Little Critters wildlife rehabilitation center, 1609 Peru Center Road, Willard, Ohio 44890.
