Robert Leo Joiner, 86, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Mercy St. Vincent's Medical Center after an automobile accident.
Robert was born on August 4, 1928 in Norwalk, Ohio.
Robert was a Veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War. He retired from General Motors as an oiler after 25 years of service and formerly worked for Wagner Quarries and the Ohio Turnpike. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post 83 and the VFW Post 2529. In his spare time, he enjoyed animals, helping out on the farm, and delivering flowers. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren..
Robert is survived by his daughter, Kim (Tom) Hermes of Sandusky; two sons, Terry Joiner of Castalia and Gary (Debra) Joiner of Sandusky; seven grandchildren, Mandy (Hermes) Stoll, Tommy Hernes, Amy (Hermes) Nickoli, Kristi (Joiner) Puckrin, Brandon Joiner, Dustin Joiner and Lisa Joiner; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald Lechner and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Dolores A. (Kromer) Joiner on January 18, 2015; step-father, Raymond Lechner; mother, Christine (Sprankel) Lechner; brother, Jack Joiner and 2 half-brothers, Gerald and James Lechner.
Private family services will take place. Burial will be in Bloomingville Cemetery, Oxford Township, Ohio. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
