Estella "Stell" Mae McKinney, 59 of Sandusky, departed this life, Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
She was born on May 1, 1956 in Sandusky and graduated from Sandusky High School.
Estella was employed by the Ohio Veterans Home, and Erie County Care Facility until her illness.
Stell loved her family dearly and going to gospel concerts and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Gregory McKinney, to whom she was married 28 years; mother, Lena Mae Cherry, Sandusky; children, Rhondy Sullivan, Toledo, OH, Candace Sullivan and Shandance (Joe N. McDougle) Sullivan, both of Sandusky; grandchildren, Cashjahnay Sullivan, Tyesha Sullivan, Monay Sullivan, Antonia Sullivan, Malikk Straughter, and Jazaveair Cherry; sisters, Patricia Hunter, Sandusky, and Debbie Ruffin, New Jersey; brothers, Jimmie (Linda) Cherry, Sandusky, and Shawn Turner, Mississippi; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends; special friends, Rita Kelly Hunter and Louise Davis.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmie W. Cherry, Sr.; sisters, Geraldine Cherry, and Francis "Cookie" Wright; brothers, James Cherry, and Johnny D. Rogers Cherry; god sons, Johnny "Diego" Cherry and Kenny Simmons.
Friends may call on Thursday, August 6, 2015, from 11 A.M. until time of Home Going services at 12 P.M. Noon in Faith Christian Ministries, 200 Hancock St., Sandusky. Rev. Tom O. Hayes, Sr. will officiate, and Rev. Melvin O. Jackson Jr. will provide the eulogy. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
