Lawrence "Lonnie" Albert Prophet, 66, of Buford, GA, and formerly of Sandusky, departed from this life on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in Gwinnett Medical Center, Lawrenceville, GA.
Lonnie was born March 15, 1949 in San Francisco, CA to Lawrence, Sr. and Gladys (Alexander) Prophet.
He attended Sandusky Public Schools and served in the United States Army. He was later employed by Ford Motor Company in Lorain, Ohio. In his earlier years, he traveled around and sang in the band called Perfections. Lonnie was a soft and gentle spoken man who greeted everyone with a smile - a smile that welcomed you and made you feel special. Lonnie enjoyed attending Ebenezer Baptist Church when he resided in Sandusky. He was the oldest of fifteen children and he loved spending time with all his family. Lonnie was very proud of all his children and would always tell anyone who would listen about them. Lonnie, also known as "Chaney Man," will be greatly missed.
Lonnie leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Lawrence (Dahlia) Prophet, III, of Atlanta, GA and Demeris Prophet, of Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters, Fatima Horton and Angel Prophet, both of Columbus, Ohio; siblings, David Prophet, of Charlotte, NC, Steven (Veronica) Prophet, of Atlanta, Tommy Prophet, of Louisville, KY, Linda (Jessie) Haynes, of Canton, Ohio, Karen Simagan, of Buford, GA, James Prophet, Rebecca (Mike) Choate, Chris (Donna) Prophet, Brian (Annette) Prophet, Peter Prophet, and Roger Prophet, all of Columbus, Ohio, Kenneth Prophet, of Atlanta, and Derrick (Dionne) Prophet, of Fort Mill, SC; 16 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rachonn (Prophet) McClendon.
