Charles Worosher Jr. 84, of Huron, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 27, 2015 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born on December 11, 1930 in Bay Bridge, Ohio to the late Charles and Mary (Kutnich) Worosher Sr.
Charles was a 1949 graduate of Margaretta High School where he was the quarterback of the last six-man football team. He began working at the age of 11 at Neilson's Fishery. He worked there for eleven years before being drafted into the United States Army. Charles was proud of his military career as a Sergeant in the 45th Infantry Thunderbird Division, serving overseas during the Korean War. He then worked at Medusa Portland Cement Company for ten years, Farrell-Cheek Steel Company for nine years and retired from New Departure in 1993 where he worked as a machinist for 25 years.
Charles was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 64 years. He served as a deacon for ten years and taught Sunday School at the church. He was also a member of the American Legion, and a lifetime member the NRA.
Charles was an avid sports fan cheering on the Indians, Browns and OSU Buckeyes. He enjoyed playing golf and was a proud member of the "Hole-in-One" club. Charles loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and taking care of the animals in his back yard. He helped build the Castalia renown, Deer Park and was a duck hunting guide in the surrounding marsh area.
Charles was passionate about cars and could be found driving the newest Ford or GM model. Eating was also a special joy for him. He loved Lake Erie perch, his wife's cooking, his homemade sandwiches, and Toft's ice cream. Charles was full of life and dedicated himself fully to everything he did. He was loved and will be deeply missed by many, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom were all very special to him in their own unique way.
Charles is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pearl (Northcutt) Worosher, whom he married on November 24, 1951; two daughters, Cindi (Peter) Dodd and Diana (Todd) Bunce, both of Castalia; son, Tim (Kim) Worosher of Richmond, VA.; eleven grandchildren, TC, Matthew (Evangeline), Jeremiah (Jessica), Zach, Kaila (fiancé, Nicholas), Tyler (Laura), Kara (Spencer), Tanner (Danielle), Abby, Trevor (Tiffany), Andrea; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Worosher of Sandusky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his five siblings, Betty, Helen, Mary, Mike and Gabriel.
The Worosher family would like to thank all of the wonderful Physicians and caregivers for their kindness, compassion and special care towards Charles.
Friends may call on Sunday, August 30th from 2 - 5 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Friends may also call from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral service at 11:00 am on Monday, August 31st at Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky with Pastor David Hixson presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, Ohio.
