Thomas "Moose" F. Gallagher

Thomas "Moose" F. Gallagher, 81, residing in Huron, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Parkvue Health Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Tom was born on August 15, 1934 in Sandusky, OH to the late Charles D. and Kathleen A. (Sommers) Gallagher.

Tom was a 1952 graduate from Margaretta High School, where he was on the 1952 championship basketball team. He served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division for the US Army from 1955 to 1963, and also spent time in Germany. Tom retired in 1999 after 35 years of service as a cement mason for Sandusky Flooring, and most recently at Mosser Contruction. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Local 46 Cement Masons, the International Bricklayers and the Trowel Trades. In his spare time, he enjoyed bird watching, gardening, traveling and spending time with his family.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Welschenbach) Gallagher, whom he married on October 12, 1957. He is also survived by his daughters, Colleen (Todd) Valli and Cathleen (Don) Baker; son, Kevin Gallagher; grandchildren, Thomas, Gian Carlo, Angelo, Mason and Alyssa; brothers, Charles, James and Richard (Annette) Gallagher and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his son, Daniel Gallagher and sister, Patricia (Donald) Good.

Friends may call on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky with Father Matt Frisbee presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
