Vernon A. Troyer, 72, residing in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, and formerly of Akron, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at his residence.
He was born on June 3, 1943 in Sugarcreek, OH, and was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines serving in the Vietnam War from 1963-1967.
Survived by daughter, Staci (Todd) Bates, Akron, OH; son, Wayne (Nancy) Troyer, Columbus, OH; grandson, Bryce; sisters, Clara (Jim) Dowdle, Canton, OH, and Edna (Harold) Craighead, Lebanon, TN; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Preceded in death by parents, Abner and Eva (Coblentz) Troyer; and sisters, Mary Lou (Ron) Lankford and Frieda (Sidney) Allen.
Friends may call on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, from 12 P.M. until time of military services at 1 P.M. in the Ohio Veterans Home, Giffin Chapel, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Ohio Veterans Home, Residence Fund.
