Mary Anita (Oliver) Fox, 90, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 15, 2015 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Anita was born on March 9, 1925 in Sandusky, OH to the late Ernest and Mary (Radl) Oliver.
Anita was a 1942 graduate from St. Mary's High School. She was employed at Periodical Publishers in the accounting department in 1942; worked at the Naval Hospital in St. Albans, Long Island, NY and retired from the Lehrer Clinic in 1982. Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the American Legion Auxiliary, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a volunteer at Firelands Hospital.
Anita is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Steve) Riesterer; son, John (Marie) Fox; 6 grandchildren, Pamela Wallace, Rebecca Webb, Jennifer Ward, Brian Wagner, Kristen (Wagner) Schulte and Karly Riesterer; 9 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Kathleen and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Anita is preceded in death by her husband, Milton Fox on October 30, 1995; brothers, Jack, Tom and James Oliver and Pat Jordan; sister, Nancy Turrie Winkelman; and also by her parents that raised her, Dudley and Emma McFadgen.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
