Brenda K. Johnson, 56, Sandusky, went home to meet her Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
She was born February 15, 1995 in Greenville, Alabama to the late Henry and Annie (Powell) Herbert Sr. She was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Deaconess, Choir Director and Youth Advisor.
She was active in the community volunteering with Cancer Services of Erie County, serving as a former President of Kiwanis Club, and Chairperson of the local Sandusky NAACP WIN Chapter.
Her special interests included the coordination of weddings and designing floral arrangements. She was the business manager and co-owner of the Garden of Eden Floral Creations and Lady T's Sophisticated Wear.
Brenda K. Johnson leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband, Curtis L. Johnson Sr.; Children, Alecia N. (Lonnie) Jones, Akron, OH, La Marcus Johnson, Las Vegas, NV, Twyla J. (Le’Andre) Moore, Bennington, NE, Curtis L. Johnson Jr., Sandusky, OH; Special Daughter, Dr. Julia Hunter, West Palm Beach, FL; Grandchildren, Isaiah J. Burgess, Cyrus J. Moore, and Kingston J. Moore; Brothers, Henry Herbert Jr., and Glenn Herbert both of Akron, OH, Terry Herbert, Wooster, OH; Sisters, Dorothy North and Deborah Herbert both of Greenville, AL, and Elaine Cheatam, Saginaw, MI. Special Aunt, Lucy Hale; several godchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Jerry Herbert.
Friends may call from 6-9 P.M. Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1920 Shelby St., Sandusky. Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 12, 2011, at 12 (Noon) in Faith Memorial Church, 1320 E. Strub Rd., Sandusky .Her son, Pastor Curtis L. Johnson Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of Erie County, 505 W. Perkins Ave., Sandusky.
