Myrtle E. Parker, age 80. of Medina, died Saturday night, Sept. 26, 2015, in Hospice of Medina County.
She was born Jan. 27, 1935, in Clearfield Co., PA, and was valedictorian in the class of 1952 at Clearfield High School.
She attended Penn State, Rensselaer Polytechnic, and Baldwin-Wallace, studying mathematics and psychology.
Her computer systems career spanned five decades, from analog computers of the 1950's through super mainframes, to micro systems, to network management. An accomplished spinner, weaver, basket maker, shooter, antiques collector, equestrian, and teacher, where her interests and zest for life had no bounds.
Myrtle never met a stranger, and was comfortable in any social or professional environment. She was at ease talking politics with a U.S. Senator or comforting a lost child.
She was a patron member of the NRA, life member of the OGCA, defender of the U.S. Constitution, and believed the only laws we have ever needed were the Ten Commandments and the original Bill of Rights.
Myrtle was an incredibly compassionate mother, grandmother, and wife, and was loved by all who had the good fortune to have known her.
She is survived by her husband Cecil B. Parker, Jr., to whom she was married for 30 years; one daughter Trish (Jeff) Palsa of Solon, OH; one son John (Brenda) Donovan of Edwardsville, IL; one stepdaughter Gretchen Parker (James) Roberts of Columbus, OH; one stepson Andrew (Tricia) Parker of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren; one sister Sally (Bob) Wilcox of Leesburg, Fl; several nieces and nephews; and literally hundreds of true friends and adopted family from around this great country.
She was preceded in death by her parents Reuben and Kathryn (Rougeux) Harris; brother Gary, and sister Betsy.
Friends may call from 4-7 PM Wednesday, Sept. 30. 2015, at the Waite and Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, where a memorial service will be at 7:00 PM. Friends may also call from 11 AM Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, until time of funeral services at 1 PM in the Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia.. The Rev. Philip Gardner will officiate both services and burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Medina County, 5075 Windfall Rd., Medina, OH 44256, or to the First Responders Survivors Fund.
