Charles A. Godfrey, 78, of Collins, Ohio, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
He was born April 3, 1937 in Hubball, West Virginia, to the late Albert L. and Dicie (Midkiff) Godfrey, and came to this area in the 1950's to take a job with the Ford Motor Company in Lorain, Ohio.
Charlie was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Collins United Methodist Church, where he was a volunteer, and cook, for the LOGOS program. Charlie was also a member of Wakeman Grange #1399, and retired from Ford Motor Company in 1990. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, collecting, going to flea markets, auctions, and garage sales. Charlie especially enjoyed spending time with his family, and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Darlene (Adams) Godfrey of Collins, Ohio, by his daughters, Linda Godfrey (Riley) Bright of Franklin, Kentucky, and Charlene Godfrey (Jim) Green of South Lyons, Michigan. Charlie is also survived by his grandchildren, Charles Michael Green, and Hailey Jordan Green, both of South Lyons, Michigan, and Brittany Bright of Johnson City, Tennessee, by his siblings, Doris Adkins of Amherst, Ohio, Lowell (Norma) Godfrey of Amherst, Ohio, John (Barbara) Godfrey of Loudonville, Ohio, Irene Clay of Branchland, West Virginia, Betty Bias of Branchland, West Virginia, and Dana Joe Godfrey of Huntington, West Virginia. He is also survived by his sisters in law, Lily Church of Harts, West Virginia, Charlotte (Ray) Smith of Harts, West Virginia, and Tracy (Jean) Kirk of Roseville, North Carolina.
Charlie was preceded in death by 5 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Friends may call on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. in the Collins United Methodist Church, 4290 Hartland Center Road, Collins, Ohio. Rev. D. Josh Arrington, will officiate. Interment will be in Collins Cemetery.
