Rudd Summers, Jr., 70, of Sandusky, passed away on Wednesday morning, October 7, 2015 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk, after he lost his battle with ongoing health issues.
He was born on December 7, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Rudd Summers and Mary (Sheeler) Summers.
He was a 1962 graduate of Huron High School, where he was a standout athlete. He garnered First-Team All-Ohio honors in basketball. Rudd also attended Ohio Northern University.
He was a licensed insurance agent for Summers Insurance Agency for 30 years. He was a basketball fanatic, with March madness being his favorite time of the year. He also enjoyed coaching youth softball and baseball. He was also an avid sports card collector.
Rudd is survived by his three children, Mary (Pete) Daniel, Julie (Robert) Fidler, and Rudd C. (Melissa) Summers; four grandchildren, Tyler Stewart, Darcy Daniel, Alana Fidler, and Kaylee Summers; sisters, Rosemary Houx and Betty Disbrow; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Scott Crager and Jessica and Juss Turner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Summers Pritts.
At Rudd's request, all services will be private. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Memorial contributions may be made in Rudd's name to Erie County Veterans Services, 2900 Columbus Ave., Room 230, Sandusky, OH 44870.
