Frank H. Konst, 83, of Bellevue, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, May 11, 2011 in the Bellevue Hospital. He was born February 11, 1928 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and had lived in the area most of his life. He was a 1945 graduate of Bellevue High School. Frank entered the U.S. Navy in 1945, and served as Hospital Corpsman at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital, Ft. Worth, Texas. He was employed as a dairy farmer for 25 years, an agent for Ohio Mutual Insurance and manager of Monroeville Co-Operative Grain Co. until his retirement in 1990.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bellevue, a 62 year member of Lyme Grange, Huron County Grange Deputy, Sch-Loe-Man Post 547, American Legion, Monroeville, Sandusky Amvets, Post 17, Roby Lodge No. 535, F. & A.M., Althea Chapter No. 438, O.E.S., 18 year volunteer for Stein Hospice Service, volunteer of Habitat for Humanity, Erie-Huron Chapter of Thrivent, 4 County Young at Heart, Vacationland Good Sam’s Club, Chapter 23, and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Monroeville, where he taught Sunday school and Bethel, served on council and numerous committees.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Dorothy L. Sherman, one sister: Sally (Charles) Williams of Berlin Heights, OH., one brother: Terry A. (Virginia) Konst, sister-in-law: Ruth Konst, brother-in-law & sister-in-law: Dale & Karen Wilson, all of Bellevue, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence & Ruby (Koch) Konst, and two brothers: Vernon and Ronald Konst.
Friends may call Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. On Monday, May 16, 2011, the body will be taken to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest Street, Bellevue to lie in state from 9:30 AM until time of funeral service at 10:30 AM. Pastor David Connor and Pastor Amy Little will officiate. Burial will be in Bellevue City Cemetery.
