M. Earline Linder, 98, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at her home.
She was born November 16, 1916, in Athens, Alabama, to the late Emmor Clair and Evora (Beckham) Wolfe.
She moved with her family to Huron County in 1920 and attended Hartland Township schools before graduating from Norwalk High School in 1934. Earline received a B.S. degree in education from Bowling Green University and taught at Lyme School, Norwalk City Schools, and Perkins Local Schools, retiring in 1977. As an advisor of the Busy Needles 4-H Club for more than 50 years, she positively impacted many young lives.
She was a member of the West Hartland United Methodist Church which she had attended "since (she) was 4 years old!" She was active in the church women's organizations.
She was also a long-time member of the Willowdale Farm Women's Club, Huron County Retired Teachers, Ohio Retired Teachers, and Farm Bureau Council 2-A (also known as The Over-the-Hill-Gang). Earline enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking, and gardening. She was well known for her beautiful zinnias and delicious coconut cream pies.
She is survived by five children and their spouses: Marilyn (Jim) Farr of Erlanger, Kentucky; Ron (Donna) Linder of Norwalk, Ohio; Ginny (Nelson) Gray of Milan, Ohio; Becky (Frank) VanDresser of New London, Ohio; Debbie (Eric) Moulton of Marysville, Ohio; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Linder of Norwalk, Ohio; 20 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; by her sisters; Eleanor Landis of New London, Ohio, and Maxine Lee of Wellington, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.
Earline was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Frederick C. Linder, in 2008; by her son, Fred Linder III; and a daughter-in-law, Scott Linder. Also preceding her in death were sisters and spouses, Edna (Lewis) Olcott, Ilo (Milton) Dolbee, Dorothy (Wirt) Rogers, brothers-in-law, Harold Landis and Harry Lee; and a brother and sister-in-law, Clair and Virginia Wolfe.
Friends may call on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, and from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015 in the West Hartland United Methodist Church, 1401 Zenobia Road, Norwalk, Ohio. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk, Ohio.
