Raymond J. "Bud" Hayes, 86, peacefully passed away as he gazed at the outdoors on Monday afternoon, October 19, 2015 at the Ohio Veterans Home.
Bud was born on October 22, 1928 to the late William Hayes and Grace (Stuver) Cowling-Hayes in the village of Glenwood, Ohio in Noble County.
Bud was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the Ohio Operating Engineers, Local #18. He also loved to spend time working on the farm with his brother. He was an active member of the VFW, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Moose International. As a young man he played the bass at local dance halls throughout the region. He will be remembered for his passion for nature, animals, music and building crafts, such as stools, jewelry holders, canes and dollhouses.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margaret (Vogus) Foland Hayes; three step children, Deborah Foland Bennett, Belinda Foland Renny and William (Sheryl) Foland; twelve grandchildren, Joshua (Mandy) Bennett, Justin (Heidi) Bennett, Alexis Renny, Thomas Fox, Amber Fox, Barbie (Joe'l) Foland Walker, Stephanie (Eric Nichols) Renny, Gregory Renny, Michael Foland, Shawn Fox, Andrea Renny and Harrison Renny and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Beatrice "Bea" (Cowling) Butdorf, Woodrow "Jack" Cowling, Catherine "Betty" (Cowling) Davis and Marie (White) Hayes.
Friends may call Friday, October 30, 2015 from 10:00 AM until time of military service at 10:30 AM in the Giffin Chapel of the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Chaplain Paul Birmingham will officiate. Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery.
