Bernice E. (Henry) Lewis, 82, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Bernice was born on July 18, 1933 in Monroe, MI to the late Leonard and Martha (Young) Henry.
Bernice was a full time wife and mother and devoted her life to taking care of her family. Prior to moving to Sandusky in 1956 she was employed at the St. Mary's Academy in Monroe, MI. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, playing games, and taking bike rides, but her favorite thing was to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Bernice is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, James Lewis. She is also survived by her children, James A. (Peggy) Lewis of Sandusky and Brenda (Eric) Henry of Vermilion; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer L. Howlett, James D. Lewis, Cory S. Sinwald, Dillon J. Henry, Bryce D. Henry and Morgan A. Budka; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Allie Mae Hilliard of Monroe, MI and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Bernice is preceded in death by her brothers, Marshall, Lemmie, Edward and Clarence Henry.
Friends may call on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
