Peter "Pete" Porter, 76, of Sandusky, died unexpectedly, Thursday, November 12, 2015, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on November 25, 1938 in Thornton, MS, and moved to Sandusky at the age of 11.
Pete was employed by Ford Motor Co. in Lorain for 30 years, retiring in November of 1990.
He leaves to cherish his memory, son, James L. Porter, who was his loving caretaker at his home; daughter, Gaye Elaine (Louis) Hines, Sandusky; grandchildren, James Hines and Breona Hines, both of Sandusky, and Lukas Hines, Kileen, TX; siblings, Sam Porter, and Nellie Taylor, both of Milwaukee, WI, Albert (Louis) Porter, Lula Rollison, and Betty Lewis all of Sandusky; brother-in-law, Richard Rice, Rochester, NY; sisters-in-law, Carole Sherman, Ruth Knight, Dolores Rice, and Donna McClellan all of Sandusky; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Janet E. (Rice) Porter on February 26, 2010; parents; and siblings, Willie, Molan, Benjamin, David, and Sallie Lee Randle.
Friends may call on Friday, November 20, 2015, from 5-8 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 P.M. in the funeral home. His brother, Rev. Albert Porter will officiate. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery.
