Mildred "Millie" M. Holman, 91, formerly of Sandusky passed away peacefully Monday morning, November 16, 2015 in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky following a brief illness.
She was born on April 1, 1924 in Elyria, Ohio to Norman and Augusta (Gast) Oswald and was a graduate of Elyria High School.
In 1949 she was united in marriage to Robert L. Holman of Jackson, Tennessee to whom she was married 40 years. She was a graduate of Sandusky School of Practical Nursing in 1967 and was employed for many years at the former Good Samaritan Hospital and Firelands Community Hospital. She also worked several years at the former Erie County Home.
Millie was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school, directed the children's choir and served on the Church Council. She was also one of the founders of St. Paul's Welcome Table Community meal. Later in life, she was active at Christ Lutheran and First Faith Community Church. She was also active in Christian clowning. She was a life time member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, a long time Girl Scout leader and an avid bowler.
She is survived by one daughter, Robin (Michael) Greene of Collins, with whom she resided for the last several years; one sister, Shirley (Walter) Schenk of Sandusky and numerous nieces, nephews and their children whom she cherished.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; one daughter, Kathleen Font; her parents; and two brothers, Kenneth and Howard Oswald.
Friends may call from 11:00 AM until time of funeral service at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 19, 2015 in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Pastor John W. Apple will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
Memorial contributions in Millie's name may be made to First Faith Community Church Elevator Fund, 225 East Jefferson Street, Sandusky or to the donor's favorite charity.
