E. Homer Bungard

E. Homer Bungard, 95, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Tuesday evening, November 24, 2015, surrounded by family.

He was born October 13, 1920 in Sullivan Township, Ashland County, Ohio, to the late Ray N. and Alwilda B. (Venosdel) Bungard.

Homer came to this area in 1946 after his discharge from the U. S. Army. He served in W.W. II in France, Germany, and Central Europe. Homer was a 40 year employee of the Northern Ohio Breeders Association. He received his Insurance License in 1966 and was an agent for the Ohio Mutual Insurance Company for 24 years. Homer was a member of Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion, Norwalk, Ohio, and Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Norwalk, Ohio. He served as a Norwalk Township Trustee for 3 terms, and served on the Erie/Huron Rural Water Board. Homer was a former member of the Board of the Huron County Health Department, and was a former member of the Norwalk Bronson Conservation Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and was especially proud of his granddaughters. Homer enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing dart ball.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia M. (Fritz) Bungard of Norwalk, Ohio, by his children, Robert A. (Lynda) Bungard of Norwalk, Ohio, Carol J. (Doug) Tucker of Powell, Ohio, and Nancy J. (Bill) Krepczynski of Dublin, Ohio, by his granddaughters, Lindsay Bungard of Lima, Ohio, and Melanie (Brian) Alberta of Columbus, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Homer was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Clyde Bungard and by his sisters, Treva Kirkpatrick and Thelma Schlarb.

Friends may call on Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Msgr. Kenneth Morman will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
