Marie T. (Reichert) McGuckin, 89, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
She was born March 16, 1926 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Herman and Alma (Gundlach) Riechert and was a lifelong area resident.
Marie was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Norwalk, Ohio and was a 1944 graduate of St. Paul High School. She worked at Battles Insurance Company, Norwalk, Ohio before starting her family and was a volunteer at the St. Paul Elementary School Library for several years. Marie was a member of the St. Paul Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed spending many winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with her late husband, Robert E. McGuckin who preceded her in death in 2012. She also enjoyed crocheting, playing Cribbage, Euchre, and Pinochle, birding, and especially enjoyed visiting with children and grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her children, Colleen Sterling of Canal Fulton, Ohio, Mark McGuckin of Streetsboro, Ohio, Dan McGuckin of Norwalk, Ohio, Janet McGuckin of Huron, Ohio, and Shirley (Steve) Gray of North Fairfield, Ohio.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chrystina Bleau, Carrie (Steve) Null, Bobbie, Geoff, and Zach McGuckin, Nichole Iehle (her fiancé, Heath Hammersmith), Michelle (Rick) Reeder, Tricia Iehle (Gwen Scott), Eric Gray (his fiancé, Ashley Allan), and Spencer (Chelsea) Gray, by 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann Iehle in 2000, by her son in law, Michael Iehle in 2011, by her brothers, Charles and Edward Reichert, and by her sister, Beatrice Bick.
There will be no calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Msgr. Kenneth Morman will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church Faith Formation Fund, or to Huron County Services for the Aging, Senior Transportation Fund, 130 Shady Lane Drive, Norwalk, Ohio 44857.
