Mary Ellen Jones, 83, of Norwalk passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 4, 1932 in Steuben, Ohio and was a 1950 graduate of Monroeville High School.
Prior to her retirement Mary was employed at Shaffoe Realtors in Norwalk. She was a member of Church of the Master, Monroeville, where she was active in the Women's Circle and Bible study group. She was a former member of the Congregational Community United Church of Christ, Monroeville, where she held many offices, sang in the choir, participated in Women's Fellowship and Bible Studies. Mary was a member of the Althea Chapter No. 438, Order of Eastern Stars, Monroeville. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels and was the founder of The Gleanings Clothing Bank in Monroeville. She served as a Huron County Board of Elections precinct worker for many years.
Mary is survived by one son, William (Carol) Jones of Milan; three daughters, Jo Ellen (William) Boos of Bellevue, Lisa Andres of Norwalk and Amy Jones of East Lansing, Michigan; four grandsons, Jason Andres, Justin Andres, Brian Boos and Patrick Rice; three great grandchildren, Karli, Liam and Reagan; one brother, Ervin Myers of Norwalk.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Homer A. Jones in 2012; her parents, Kenneth and Etta (Cherry) Myers; one brother, Harold Myers; two sisters, Evalynn (Myers) Watkins and Velda (Myers) Kelley.
Friends may call Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 4-7:00 PM to Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Church of the Master, 2643 State Route 162, Monroeville, with Pastor Stephen Sickel officiating. Committal services for the family will be held later in the Riverside Cemetery, Monroeville.
