William "Bill" Schippel, 61, of Castalia, died on Monday morning in the Cleveland Clinic after a brief illness.
He was born on June 14, 1954 in Sandusky and was a 1973 graduate of Sandusky High School.
He retired from General Motors after 27 years of service as a tool and die maker. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Science Lodge #50 F. & A.M., and was also a Shriner. He loved spending his time with his best friend and wife, Mellissa, as well as with their faithful companion, Katie. He enjoyed trains, bird watching and looking for turtles.
Bill's wife, Mellissa (Bender), whom he married May 21, 1996, his parents, Roger L. and Nancy (Mischler) Schippel, Sandusky, sisters, Donna (Dale) Casper, St. Petersburg, FL, and Shirley Voight, Sandusky, brother, Roy Schippel, Sandusky, in-laws, Artheana and Chris Tulapan, Sandusky, and several nieces and nephews, survive him.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Roger D. "Rick" Schippel, in 1994.
Friends may call Thursday from 10am until time of services at 11am in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Deacon Jeff Claar will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
