Frank Capicchioni, 88, residing in Sandusky, passed away Monday afternoon, December 14, 2015 at the Ohio Veteran's Home after a brief illness.
Frank was born on December 15, 1926 in San Marino, Italy to the late Marino and Josephine (Stefanelli) Capicchioni.
He was a Veteran of the Army who proudly served his country during WWII. He was employed with Fosco Cement, Firelands Concrete and worked as a partner with Hank Shenigo before retiring after many years in the concrete business. Frank was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the International Union of Brick Layers Local #46, American Legion #83, VFW 2529 and the former IAB Club. He was an avid sports fan and especially liked Cleveland sports. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, making pasta and sharing with his many friends, traveling back home to Italy, but most enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and family.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Maria Krause of Norwalk; son, John Capicchioni of Columbus; grandchildren, Kalie, Adam and Dylan Krause and Jack and Matthew Capicchioni; sisters, Amelia Hunt and Mary (Louie) Grathwol both of Sandusky and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Palladino) Capicchioni in 2003.
Friends may call on Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Prayers will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 am on Friday, December 18, 2015 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky with Father Joe Steinbauer presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
