Elizabeth (Ittes) Fulop, 98, residing in Sandusky, passed away Thursday morning, December 17, 2015 at The Commons of Providence after a lengthy illness.
Betty was born on July 3, 1917 in Barberton, OH to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Nyste) Ittes.
Betty was a 1935 graduate of Barberton High School. After high school she worked for several doctors as their receptionist, and then at Sun Rubber Company where she assembled everything from rubber dolls to gas masks.
On September 27, 1941 she married Louis J. Fulop at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Barberton. During the war she was able to accompany her husband to various Army posts from North Carolina to Arkansas to Texas. After they returned to Akron, OH Louis began his career at B.F. Goodrich and Betty took care of their home and two sons. Once her sons' education was complete, Betty enjoyed traveling with Louis on his many business trips around the country. In 1973 Louis was transferred to Wichita, KS as the regional sales manager where they lived until 1985. Then they retired to Sarasota, FL where she became a member of the Incarnation Catholic Church. During her time in Sarasota, she truly enjoyed her three favorite past times, shopping, eating out and Wednesday night bingo.
Betty is survived by her son, Leslie (Lynn) Fulop of Sandusky; grandchildren, Christopher, Todd, Michelle, and Kelley; great-grandchildren, Evan, Tanner and Savannah and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Louis in 2010; son, Major Charles Thomas Fulop in 1978 and brother, Joseph Ittes.
The family would sincerely like to thank the entire staff at The Commons of Providence, Saint Clare wing for the love and compassion they have shown their mother during her stay with them.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Oakland Cemetery Chapel and announced at a later date. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
