Frank W. Spencer, Jr., 72, of Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 23, 2015 in The Meadows at Osborn Park after a lengthy illness.
He was born on September 22, 1943 in Hazard, KY to the late Frank, Sr. and Ella Faye (Campbell) Spencer.
He graduated from Dilce Combs High School in Hazard, KY and earned his Bachelor's degree from Berea College in Berea, KY. Frank then worked and retired from Chrysler Plastics (Sandusky Athol International) as a chemist.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a former member of the American Chemical Society. He loved to read and visit coffee shops. But most of all, Frank loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Frank is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathy (Powers) Spencer; children, Renee (husband, Andy) Little, of Mansfield, OH, and Brett Spencer, of Sandusky; grandchildren, Abby and Sophie Little; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
At Frank's request, there will be no viewing and cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at a later date in January 2016, and the funeral home will make an announcement at that time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Frank's name to The Meadows, 3916 Perkins Ave., Huron, OH 44839 or to the church at 1810 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at The Meadows for their exceptional care, and Drs. Robert Vaschak and Richard Keller for their personal care and understanding.
Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is handling arrangements.
