Alvin D. (Dusty) Duskins, age 72, of Castalia, died Saturday afternoon, May 28, 2011, in Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born Dec. 26, 1938, in Pedro, OH, and was a 1955 graduate of Sandusky High School. He owned and operated D & D Auto Body in Castalia for many years. He and his wife Joyce then drove a souvenir semi to all the NASCAR races. After retiring from racing, he drove semi for KAS Trucking. He was past president of the Automotive Service Council. He built championship race cars in the 1960's and was a lieutenant on the Margaretta Fire Department. He served in the U. S. Army during the Cuban Conflict and taught neuclear weapons while in the Army.
He is survived by his wife Joyce (Isler) Duskins; daughter Jenny Duskins of Pensacola, FL., son Bob (Ruth) Duskins of Castalia; daughters Sandi (Dan) Moore of Jenkintown, PA., and Pam (Craig) Neill of Marblehead, OH; son Chuck (Linda) Myers of Sandusky, OH; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two sisters Joyce Ann Duskins of Sandusky, and Bernice Swain of Madison, OH; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Virginia (Anderson) Duskins and one brother.
There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place, and a memorial service will be held at 11 am Tuesday, May 31, 2011, in the Congregational United Church of Christ, 205 Main St., Castalia, with Pastor John Paputza officiating. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall.
