Virginia K. Tanner, 97, of Sandusky passed away early Wednesday morning, January 6, 2016 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky following a brief illness.
She was born December 3, 1918 in Sandusky where she had lived all her life.
She was a 1937 graduate of Sandusky High School. Virginia retired in 1980 from the former Decko Products. Prior to this, she had worked at the Periodical Publishers. In 1940 she married John Tanner.
Virginia enjoyed sewing, activities at the Senior Center and her monthly luncheons with her classmates.
She is survived by six nieces, Betsy Coffman of Sandusky, Marilyn Hill of Overgaard, Arizona, Rebecca Gast of Sandusky, Ruth Foster of Valparaiso, Indiana, Sharman Brown of Warwick, Rhode Island and Ann Horwath of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; one nephew, Phil Kimmet of Fremont, many great nieces and great nephews including a special great niece, Susan Coffman-Wolbert of Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Tanner in 1990; her father, Louis F. Eckler and mother, May (Allen) Reinheimer; one sister, Dorothy Dalton in 1998 and one nephew, Jim Aust.
Friends may call Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service at 11:30 AM in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Pastor Bill Michaels, Chaplain of Parkvue Healthcare will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
