Jerome A. Maag, 75, formerly of Sandusky passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 in the deGreeff Hospice House, St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born January 21, 1940 in Sandusky and was a 1958 graduate of Sandusky High School.
Jerome was a member of Boy Scout Troop #1 as a youth. He served ten years in the Army National Guard of Ohio. Jerome retired from Delphi Chassis (New Departure-Hyatt) where had worked twenty four years. He also owned the former Maag's Laundromat in Sandusky. Prior to this, he had worked at Union Chain, Bay Bell Grocery Store, Marc's Market and Marc's Pick-N-Pay. Jerome was a member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, Sandusky, Science Lodge No. 50, F.&A.M. where he served as Master in 1986, Sandusky City Chapter No. 72, R.A.M., Sandusky City Council No. 26, R.&S.M., 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo and the Singara Grotto. He was a member of the Perkins Pirates Marching Band Pit Crew.
He is survived by two daughters, Julie (Paul) Weisner of Ballwin, MO and Sarah (John) Lashley of Huntersville, NC; two grandchildren, Leah and Madison Lashley; two brothers, Daryle (Marleen) Maag of Mesa, AZ and Robert (Sue Harrison) Maag of Sandusky; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Wilson) Maag in 2006 and his parents, Howard and Anita (Riesterer) Maag.
Friends may call Friday, January 15, 2016 from 2-4:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Friends may also call at the St. Stephen United Church of Christ, 905 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky from 9:00 AM Saturday, January 16, 2016 until time of Science Lodge #50 Masonic Memorial Service at 10:00 AM. Funeral services will immediately follow with the Rev. Jerald A. Fenske officiating. Entombment will be at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron following the service. A luncheon will be held at the church following the entombment.
