Marilyn Louise (Meacham) Ortman, 86 of Milan, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 in Fisher Titus Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born February 13, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio to James Ames and Eloise Caroline (Jeffery) Meacham.
She was a lifelong resident of Milan graduating from Milan High School and Kent State University where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught at both Wakeman and Berlin Heights Schools and later worked for General Electric in Cleveland until her marriage to F. William Ortman in 1957. She was a member of the Milan Presbyterian Church. Marilyn was very active in the Order of the Eastern Stars holding many offices through the years including Worthy Matron. She was also a member of the Milan Fortnightly Travel Club for many years and a former member of the Milan Garden Club. She enjoyed crocheting, painting pictures, decorating tables and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her three children, Diane Ortman of Milan, James Ortman of Saline, MI; Robert (Karen) Ortman of Huron, grandchildren, Caroline, Ashley, Richard, Jeffery, and Matthew; two brothers, Robert (Adrijana) Meacham of MI and James (Gloria) Meacham of FL and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, F. William Ortman in 1985.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory Milan Chapel, 1 S. Main St., Milan. Eastern Star services will be held at 4:30 pm in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 1:00 pm until the time of funeral services at 2:00 pm with Pastor Donald Loving presiding. Burial will follow in Milan Cemetery, Milan.
