Thelma Theresa (Sartor) Peters, 87, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, January 15, 2016 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Thelma was born on August 24, 1928 in Sandusky, OH to the late Leo and Caroline (Rudiger) Sartor.
Thelma was employed at the former Hinde and Dauch Paper Company. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Thelma was also a member of the American Legion, the State and National Grange and a founding member of the Stroke Club of Sandusky. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, playing the piano, cake decorating, canning fruits and vegetables from her garden, watching marching bands, and watching sports her family participated in.
Thelma is survived by her 12 children, Doris (Michael) Tansey, Georgianna (Lauren) Smith, Esther Peters, Frances Falkenhagen, C. Rodney Peters Jr., Clarence (Nanette) Peters, Lewis (Heidi) Peters, Martin Peters, Jacqueline (Marty) Gilbert, Wayne (Diane) Peters, Dorothea (Steve) Smith and Henry Peters; 28 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Berkey and Elizabeth "Betty" Enderle and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rodney Peters, Sr. whom she married on June 5, 1948; daughter, Rose Marie Peters in infancy; grandson, Brian Tansey; sisters, Erma Fear, Victoria (Mickey) Patterson, Marion Mog and Ernestine Tansey; brothers, Henry, George, Fredrick, Earl and Lynford, Emil, Albon and Jack Sartor.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 am on Monday, January 18, 2016 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church-Sandusky, 429 Central Ave. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
