Eleanor Appell Fowler Scheid, age 83, of Sandusky, died Saturday, May 28, 2011, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.

She was born June 23, 1927, in Sandusky, OH, and was a 1945 graduate of Sandusky High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, OH, in 1949, and taught school at Sycamore, Osborne and Ontario elementary schools in Sandusky, and Shawnee school in Huron, OH.

She was a life member of Grace Episcopal Church, in Sandusky, where she served on the vestry and other various committees. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Club, member and past president of PEO, College Women's Club, Current Review Club, Plum Brook Country Club, Sandusky Yacht Club, Cotillion and Assembly Clubs, and was a volunteer at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Merry-Go-Round Museum, and the Huron Host Reading Program.

Eleanor is survived by her husband William P. Scheid, Sr., one daughter Anne (Andrew) Rich of Bloomfield Hills, MI, one son W. Craig (Christy) Fowler of Winnetka, IL, and one son Jeffrey (Lisa) Fowler of Huron, OH; 6 grandchildren Hayley, Elizabeth, and Preston Fowler, and Jennifer, Andrew, and Parker Rich; one niece, three nephews, and sister-in-law Toni Appell.

She was preceded in death by her first husband R. James Fowler, her parents Albert and Eleanor (Beerck) Appell, and one brother Albert O. Appell.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 315 Wayne St., Sandusky, at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Rev. William Hlavin and Rev. John Reinheimer will officiate. A private burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
