Dora "Pam" Cox

Dora "Pam" Cox, 78, of Sandusky, departed this life on Friday, January 15, 2016, in University Hospital, Cleveland.

She was born on January 27, 1937 in Barr, Mississippi.

Dora attended Freedonia Elementary/High School in Coldwater, Mississippi. She was baptized in the Church of Christ in 1953 in Mississippi, and when she moved to Ohio she became a faithful life-long member of The East Parish St Church of Christ in Sandusky for more than 45 years.

She loved her family, enjoyed family gatherings, attending church and the family dinners after church, which were started on her behalf so that she could enjoy her family each Sunday. She was dedicated to helping to raise two of her nieces, Delphine (Mikki) Cox, Donna (Faye) Cox (Wray), and nephew Robert (Don) Cox. She was like a mother to them. In addition, Dora was employed long term in child care many years ago, and is still lovingly called Aunt Dora by those she cared for. She also had previous employment working for the Lake Crest Motel in Sandusky.

In her younger years, Dora enjoyed fishing and playing softball. Later in life you would find her doing Word Searches and listening to gospel music which she enjoyed immensely. She had a contagious laughter and those who knew her share the view that you could not find a more compassionate and loving person than Dora.

She is survived by her siblings: Wrennie "Duke" (Thelma) Cox, Queen Montgomery, Frank (Nettie) Cox all of Sandusky, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

Dora was preceded in death by her mother Zetta Cox, brother, Willie Cox, Sister Ethel Cathey, nieces Jean Cox, and Jane Turner, nephew, Doug Montgomery, infant niece, Leslie Ann Cathey, special aunts Tennessee Miller, Addie Brownlee, and Vertna Cox., and uncles Manuel, Buster, Sims and Allen Cox.

Friends may call on Saturday, January 23, 2016, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in East Parish St. Church of Christ, 1219 East Parish St., Sandusky. Brother Jeffrey Sherman will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
