Ruth M. Nemitz, 96, of Sandusky, died early Monday morning, June 6, 2011 in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky following a lengthy illness.
She was born October 24, 1914 in Sandusky and was a 1932 graduate of Sandusky High School. Ruth was employed by the Sandusky City Schools for 43 years, retiring in 1975 as the Assistant Treasurer. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Sandusky, where she had been the oldest member in longevity. At the church, she was a ordained deacon and was a member of the Presbyterian Women, active with the Lenten Luncheons. She also served on the Memorial Committee of the church for many years. Ruth was also a charter member of the Singara Caldron, No. 60, and was a 20 plus year volunteer of the Firelands Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, working in the gift shop.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Howard M. Nemitz, two sisters: Marion Werner and Betty Reardon, two nephews: William (Barbara) Werner, Robert (Michelle) Reardron, all of Sandusky, two great nephews: Billy (Christy) Werner of Columbus, Adam (Amanda) Reardon of Sandusky and one great niece: Laura Reardon of Bryan, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Warren & Marion (Klemm) Oliver.
Friends may call Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, and on Friday, June 10, 2011 from 9:30 AM until time of funeral service at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 265 Jackson Street, Sandusky. The Rev. Kimberly Secrist-Ashby will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
