Willie Coin "Chief" Jones

Willie Coin "Chief" Jones, 80, of Sandusky, entered into eternal rest, Friday, February 26, 2016, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.

He was born February 27, 1935 in Columbus, Mississippi to the late May Ella Giles and Charles Jones.

In 1955 he relocated to Sandusky to begin a new life working for Waldock Packing Co. and J.H. Routh Packing Co., a combined total of 31 years, before retiring in 1989. As an avid sports fan he enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers. His pastime passions were hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking. He will be remembered graciously as a doting father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, sons, Wavie Jones, Hampton Va., Charles (Tamala) Jones, Ypsilanti, Michigan, Theotis (Kerry) Jones, Canton, Michigan and daughter Lisa (Terry) Edmon, Sandusky, Ohio.

Also his children, sons, Willie C. (Betty) Jones, Jr., Rialto, California, Eddie Jones, Roswell, New Mexico, London Gant, Columbus, Ohio, and daughters, Myra Gant, Columbus, Ohio, Allison (Rodney) Agard, Paris, California, and Omelia Jones-Knox, San Bernardino, California.

His step-children, Deborah Graves, Donna (Dennis) Palmer, Crystal (Zackery) Randleman, Marian (Spencer) Hill, and Dionne (Sean) Amison, all of Sandusky, Ohio, Michael (Millie) Graves, Washington D.C., Larry Graves, Lansing, Michigan, and Donald (Charmaine) Graves, Stockbridge, Georgia.

Also 31 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and his devoted grandson, Darius Graves.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae (Skipper) Jones, long-time companion June E. Graves, son, Thirkell Jones, a daughter in infancy, step-son, Tommie L. Dillard, step-daughter, June Cunningham, brothers, Eddie Giles, Wavie Giles, Thirkee Barron and Theotis Charles Bradley.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 3, 2016, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in Porter's Memorial C.M.E. Church, 1722 Third St., Sandusky. Rev. Ian Gibson will officiate. Entombment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
