Eleanor I. Owen, age 98, of Castalia, died Sunday night, February 28, 2016, at The Portland Place, Sandusky, following a brief illness.
She was born June 1, 1917, in Bloomingville, OH, and attended Margaretta High School.
Eleanor worked for Hinde & Dauch Paper Company for 21 years, retiring in 1974, and was a member of the Congregational U.C.C., Castalia. She enjoyed camping and crocheting .
She is survived by two daughters Deanna Leder, Sandusky, and Becky (Robert) Lorenz, Castalia; son Charles (Judith) Owen; Willoughby Hills, OH; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many niece and nephews.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Frank Owen; parents Dean and Anna (Ries) Strong; five sisters Kathryn Opfer, Florence Byers, Anna Mae Pavia, Unice Cleary, and Janice in infancy; and step father Harold Stark.
Memorial services will be March 12, 2016, at 10 AM at the Congregational U.C.C., 205 Main St., Castalia, with Pastor John Paputza officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, Castalia, was in charge of the arrangements.
