Jeanette B. Meyer, 88, of Monroeville passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born February 4, 1928 in Peru Township and was a 1946 graduate of Monroeville High School.
Jeanette was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, sang in the choir at the church for many years and a member of the Rosary and Altar Society. She enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting and reading.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James "Jim" L.; six children, Lynne Hemenway of Norwalk, Jill (Mike) Sitterly, Denise (Bill) Brooks, Tam (Glen) Opper all of Monroeville, Toby Meyer of Collins and Kris (Jim) Schaffer of Monroeville; fourteen grandchildren, Tina Shields, Dawn (Scott) Aronhalt, Eric (Stacey) Opper, Sandi (Clint) Poths, Kellie (Scott) Polito, Steve Sitterly, Joan (Ken) Cutcher, Betsy (Kevin) Rasnick, Tiffany (Caleb) Arnold, Craig Meyer, Taylor Rarick, Morgan Rarick, Christopher Schaffer and Courtney Schaffer; ten great grandchildren, Derek and Dylan Shields, Olivia and Alexandra Aronhalt, Emily Berry, Abbi and Kaci Poths, Anderson and Weston Polito and Ella Arnold; two sisters, Arleen Austin of Westlake and Evelyn Ruffing of Monroeville; one brother, Fr. Norbert Adelman of Carthagena, Ohio, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Homer Shields, Jr.; her parents, George and Bertha (Schlachter) Adelman; one sister, Rosemary Henery and one brother, Alvin Adelman.
Friends may call Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 31, 2016 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel Street, Monroeville. Fr. Ronald Schock will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville.
