Evan E. Sager

Evan E. Sager, 77, of 15 Sawmill Creek Dr., Huron, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday, March 30, 2016.

He was born on October 1, 1938 in Teaneck, New Jersey, the son of the late George and Kathryn (Rivers) Sager.

He graduated from Bergenfield High School in Bergenfield, N.J., then from the General Motors Institute in Flint, MI. After serving in the U.S. Army, he then worked as an engineer for General Motors for 35 years.

Evan was an avid golfer. He also loved to travel: he and his wife, Patty, visited all 50 states. He enjoyed reading, and like a true engineer, he enjoyed puzzles, including crossword and jigsaw. He also loved beer and peanuts every Monday night at his "business meetings!" Most important to Evan, however, was his family, and he loved spending time with his granddaughters.

Evan is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patty (Irvine) Sager, whom he married in 1972; "favorite daughter," Karyn Seibel, of Huron; granddaughters, Kate and Grace Seibel; sister, Ann Stamison, of New Port Richey, FL; nieces and nephews; brothers- and a sister-in-law; and many loving family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew.

At Evan's request, there will be no viewing. A private family prayer service will be held with Deacon Bill Burch, of St. Mary's Catholic Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Evan's name to the Tanny Vonthron Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Huron City Schools, 712 Cleveland Rd. East, Huron, OH 44839 or to Victory Kitchen, 1613 Hayes Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
