Bonita Bernice "Bonnie" Smith, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Washington Road on Thursday, March 31, 2016.
Bonnie was born February 28, 1932, to Henry and Bernice (Dowler) Landoll and was one of five siblings, including her loving sister Elaine (Dean) Hansen, of Norwalk.
Bonnie attended St. Paul School and graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1950. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a lifelong member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Altar and Rosary Society. Bonnie was a strong and selfless woman, and a true "prayer warrior" for others. She lived a life of quiet courage with a quick wit and an indomitable positive spirit that was an inspiration to all who were blessed to have known her.
Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Gordon W. Smith. She is also survived by her four daughters and two sons; Linda (Jeff) Bash, of Findlay OH, Laura (Mike) Smith, of Toledo OH, Matthew (Angela) Smith, of Columbus OH, Amy (Craig) Heflinger, of Findlay OH, Mark (Kirsty) Smith, of Norwalk OH, and Christine (Jeff) Thomas, of Fairfield OH and by her 18 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.,Sunday, April 3, 2016, in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St. Norwalk, Ohio. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 38 W. League St. Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Anthony Recker will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Monroeville, Ohio.
