Thomas G. “Tom” O’Toole, 69, of Oxford Township, Ohio died Wednesday evening, June 8, 2011 in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky following a brief illness.

He was born November 20, 1941 in Sandusky and attended Sandusky High School, where he was an outstanding basketball player. Tom graduated in 1959 from Jackson Liberty High School. He was employed as a lineman for 30 years by the Ohio Edison Company, retiring in 1996. Tom loved the outdoors, and enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Michigan and travel trailer in Pennsylvania. He was a supporter of the National Wildlife, World Wildlife, Erie Metroparks and Nature Conservancy.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, the former Deborah Meyer, two daughters: Kelly (Don) Hudson of New Port Richey, FL., Kandi O’Toole of Hickory, N.C., Thomas W. (Donna) O’Toole of Bellevue, seven grandchildren: Andrew Beechler, Philip Beechler, Grace Beechler, William “Liam” O’Toole, Katelyn Schoewe, Thomas W. O’Toole, Jr., and Taylor O’Toole, one great grandson: Thomas W. O’Toole, III, one brother: Timothy O’Toole of Sidman, PA., two sisters-in-law: Penelope (Leif) Chaffee of Maple Grove, MN., Priscilla “Gidget“ (Don) Adams of Milan, two brothers-in-law: David (Carolyn) Meyer of Sandusky and Terry (Dori) Meyer of Oregon, OH., numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents: C. William & Roberta (Phillips) O’Toole, mother & father-in-law: Woody & Marian Meyer, and his grandparents.

Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 PM Sunday, June 12, 2011 in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 13, 2011. The Rev. Edgar Shelly will officiate. At the request of the deceased, cremation will follow.
