Gary A. Violette, 66, of Sandusky passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 in the presence of his loving wife and under the compassionate care of the Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born March 31, 1950 in Sandusky, Ohio where he was a live long resident.
Gary served his country as a Specialist in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He and his two brothers, Ray and James assumed ownership and operated the business that was founded by their father, Bill's Body Shop in Port Clinton, Ohio. Gary was an avid boater. It was this activity that saw his future wife splash into his life. With the renaming of his boat to the "Miss HeiDee" the families knew Gary and HeiDee were hooked for life. Gary had a great sense of humor and easily embraced his wife's large family and friends. He was generous and anytime a helping hand was needed Gary was there with a smile and encouragement. He was laid back and enjoyed letting the "little guys", his "co-pilots", run the boat, usually in circles. He loved to cook and invitations to eat were frequently joyous and delicious events. Gary embraced life, he will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all those graced with the blessing of having had him in their lives.
He is survived by his wife, HeiDee (Notestine); four legged best friend, Max; brothers, Ray Violette of Port Clinton and James Violette of Sandusky; niece, Sarah of Florida; and nephew Kevin Violette of Port Clinton; step children, Ashley (Jason) and Tyler Bugdon; mother-in-law, Dee Cearfoss; brother and sister-in-law, Toby (Roberta) Notestine; sisters, JoDee Davis and DoeDee (Dave) Zielske; life time friends, Linda Bolton and Connie Drossman, all of Sandusky and their many children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews of these unions, each and every one touched by Gary's love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ruth Violette; sister-in-law, Brenda Violette.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM Wednesday, April 13, 2016 until time of Memorial Service at 6:00 PM in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Pastor Don Spurlock will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Gary's name to the donor's favorite charity.
