Rolland "Rolly" Wendt, formerly of Sandusky, Monroeville, Willard, and Old Fort, died April 10, 2016 at Heartland of Marysville, Marysville, Ohio.

He was born to the late, Henry and Clara (Krueger) Wendt, in Sandusky, Ohio, on October 31, 1924.

Rolly graduated from Sandusky High School in 1943. He married Helen "Emma" Chaff on May 27, 1950, and they raised their children on a farm in Monroeville. In addition to farming, Rolly worked, as a youth, for The Sandusky Register, Apel Lumber Company, as a carpenter for Knob Hill Construction, and as a maintenance supervisor at Sawmill Creek Lodge. Rolly was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroeville, and Zion Lutheran Church in Sandusky. He was an accomplished carpenter, gardener, storyteller, and fisherman. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, attending farm auctions, and county and state fairs.

Rolly was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sisters, Doris (Glen) Baumgartner, and Grace (George) Meggitt, an infant son, Keith Wendt, and a cousin, Ronald (Linda) Krueger.

He is survived by four children; Timothy (Lisa) Wendt of Monroeville, Ohio, Jan (Joe) Turnley of Norwalk, Ohio, Thom (Linda) Wendt, of Westerville, Ohio, and Kevin (Megan) Wendt of Dublin, Ohio, and multiple grandchildren.

Honoring Rolly's final wishes, there will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Monroeville, Ohio.
