David Richard Petersen, 69, residing in Marblehead, died at Stein Hospice Care Center on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 in Sandusky, after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Petersen was born on February 21 , 1947 in Port Clinton, Ohio to Richard and Eva Jean Petersen.
He earned an Associates Degree in Electronics from the Chicago DeVry Institute in 1969 and married Barbara Foerster in 1972. They settled in Danbury Township where David farmed through 2015. Additionally, he ran Petersen's Cove on Catawba Island and was a hard working multi-talented handy man.
David was an elder at his longtime church, the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Sandusky and a devoted leader and Assistant Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 331.
Mr. Petersen is survived by his wife, Barbara; sister, Sharon Heinberger; son, Russell (Sarah) Petersen; and grandchildren, Hope and Trinity Petersen.
David was preceded in death by his father Richard in 1980 and mother Eva Jean in 2014.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 23,2016 at 11 A.M. in the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 431 Columbus Ave. Sandusky. Rev. Lenore Kure will officiate. All are welcome to attend and honor David's life. David will be buried in the family plot at Catawba Island cemetery at a later date.
The family requests that donations be made to First Congregational United Church of Christ, or Danbury Boy Scout Troop 331.
