Bonnie L. (King) Edgington, 83, residing in Sandusky , passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Bonnie was born on October 26, 1932 in Manchester, OH to the late Vance and Ethel (Morgan) King. Her mother passed away two weeks after Bonnie was born. She lived with her grandparents, John and Anna Morgan until she married her husband, Harlan Edgington on April 30, 1947, and moved to Sandusky in 1951.
Bonnie stayed at home and took care of her children until they were grown, and then after 10 years of service retired from the former Hills Department Store. She was a member of the Sandusky Eagles Auxiliary 444, where she was an officer for several years and also a member of Sandusky VFW Auxiliary 2529 and the Vacationland Grandmothers #28. Bonnie loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cookouts, playing horseshoes, playing cards, going on road trips, going to BINGO and she loved to go to Cedar Point. Bonnie also enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her chickens and pet pigs.
Bonnie is survived by her son, Wayne (Jill) Edgington of DeLand, FL; daughters, Brenda (William) Ulery, Linda (Wally) Sosa and Bonnie S. Edgington all of Sandusky; 10 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Bonnie will also be sadly missed by her two life long friends, Sharon Lavey and Marge Richardson, and her dog, Millie.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Harlan "Hedge" Edgington; daughter, Georgia Ann; two grandsons and her five sisters, Wanda, Opal, Thelma, Ermma and Geneva.
Friends may call on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 3 at 10:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor David Clarke presiding. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
